Canguaru is free community infrastructure: an English-first guide connecting Brazilians and Australians to Brazilian food, events, businesses and culture across every state. Built and run from the Northern Beaches, NSW.
Why it matters
More than 74,000 Brazilians call Australia home, and Brazilian culture — food, music, dance, sport — draws audiences far beyond the community itself. But most of it was invisible: events promoted only in Portuguese in closed groups, businesses without an English presence, artists without a stage to point to.
Canguaru makes it visible. Every listing is free. Businesses gain customers they couldn't reach. Events find audiences beyond the community. Australians find a front door into Brazilian culture. And the community finds each other.
